Rain day start for sunny day sale
As the ferry rounded the point into Whaletown on Cortes Island a red roof peeked above the leafless trees overlooking the pretty beach and sheltered bay. It’s midwinter, not known for being the busiest time for real estate in the smaller west coast communities, but great timing to have a new listing all set to shine as the spring flowers start blooming and the leaves unfurl.
260 Harbour Road, Cortes Island has great potential for the right owners. It’s pretty much the most convenient property on the whole island where the ferry to Quadra Island is concerned. There’s a nice southwest exposure to catch the best of the winter sun and it’s a hop skip and small jump from the beach which keeps things fresh on the warmer summer days.
The friendly sellers Mark and Diane showed us around, introduced us to the neighbourhood deer and some of the property’s little gems: the large covered deck overlooking the bay, a small pretty pond and the handy (and pretty cute) shed. My husband Phil took photographs while I measured up the house. A light rain and all the greenery had me picturing this lovely house in summer with birds singing from the thickets and the lilies ringing the pond. Winter is the perfect time to get ready for a springtime sale!
